It is absoluteluy thrilling to read the stories of some of these prisoners as they themselves have written them.

The prisoner - N.A. - tells about himself...

The prisoner - O.M. - tells about himself...

During the course of the program families in the nearby settlement of Tifrach adopted some of these prisoners. They host them during the brief vacation time they are allotted, especially on Sabbath and holidays. In this way they inculcate among these men a feeling of what a warm, Jewish home is, and how some of the basic concepts of Judaism are applied in everyday living.

Until now, over 200 prisoners have been rehabilitated through the yeshivah. Some of them are even refered to yeshivot and kollelim upon release from prison, and they have gone on to become true Torah scholars scattered throughout the world of Torah in Israel. All of them practice a religious way of life and have been completely rehabilitated.

This Religious Rehabilitation Project has had many repurcussions throughout Israel and the world. Many similar programs have been modelled upon it.

The activities of Hamaayan do not stop with classes in Torah and Judaism. Physical and spiritual assistance to the families of prisoners is also provided.

A hostel for released prisoners is in the planning stage. It will make their re-entry into the general society more gradual and hence more efficacious.

Lets take a look at other activities that we do...
